Substituting Clean for Dirty Energy: A Bottom-Up Analysis

چکیده
We analyze the macroeconomic substitution between clean and dirty inputs through lens of production isoquants derived from a numerical bottom-up model electricity production. This approach also allows us to study high shares energy not observable today isolate mechanisms that impact elasticity inputs. Our results, for first time, demonstrate aggregate functions used in models can represent complex patterns obtained models. Further, we show (i) are essential production—as long as some storage is available, above unity; (ii) no single technology indispensable, but balanced mix facilitates substitution; (iii) harder higher energy. Finally, how changing availability generation technologies be implemented

A New Dynamical Bottom-Up Energy Model for Germany
The results of calculations made by bottom-up linear optimization models (LP) are to some extent determined by the applied optimization strategy. Existing energy system models most commonly employ an optimization strategy which are known as perfect-foresight, i.e. an optimization of the total time period in one system of equations. Perfect foresight means that the model in principle would “know...
متن کاملBottom-Up Shape Analysis
In this paper we present a new shape analysis algorithm. The key distinguishing aspect of our algorithm is that it is completely compositional, bottom-up and non-iterative. We present our algorithm as an inference system for computing Hoare triples summarizing heap manipulating programs. Our inference rules are compositional: Hoare triples for a compound statement are computed from the Hoare tr...
متن کاملSuperconductivity in MgB2: clean or dirty?
A large number of experimental facts and theoretical arguments favor a two-gap model for superconductivity in MgB2. However, this model predicts strong suppression of the critical temperature by interband impurity scattering and, presumably, a strong correlation between the critical temperature and the residual resistivity. No such correlation has been observed. We argue that this fact can be u...
متن کاملElasticity of Substitution between Clean and Dirty Energy Inputs – A Macroeconomic Perspective
Recently Acemolgu, Aghion, Bursztyn and Hemous (AER 2012) formulated a model in which a high macroeconomic elasticity of substitution between clean and dirty production represents a crucial condition for green growth. Until now it has never been systematically estimated. Using a novel panel of cross-country sectoral data, we formulate specifications of nested CES production functions that allow...
متن کاملClean data with dirty surfaces in electrokinetics
The field of electrokinetics, or electrically driven motion of particles and fluids, recently celebrated its 200th birthday [1, 2] and yet it remains a frontier of theoretical physics. Stringent tests of the standard model used by workers in this field are now possible in microfluidic devices using alternating-current [3] or induced-charge electro-osmotic (ICEO) flows [4]. Unlike classical elec...
